Post Harvest Engineering : Cereals, Pulses & Oilseeds

About This Course
Post Harvest Engineering includes processing raw grains into marketable forms. It consists of three phases: cleaning, separation, and drying.
Cleaning removes foreign material (FM) such as stones, sticks, leaves, and chaff, as well as any foreign matter that may have attached itself to the grains. Separation divides the grain into different grades based on physical characteristics like size, shape, damage, and cleanliness. Drying removes moisture from the grains to prevent spoilage. If grains are too moist, they will not store well. The moisture content of grains must be reduced to less than 10% moisture for proper storage
